TEAM-BUILDING INSIGHT

Customized, Evidence-Based Training That Builds Communication and Teamwork Skills to Enhance Patient Safety and Quality Care

Team-Building INSIGHT utilizes a proven framework developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).* It is rooted in more than 20 years of research into how to create highly effective teams. As you implement this phased program, you and your team will have the guidance of Master Trainers, certified professionals who are trained in how to apply teamwork principles. The framework is designed for all audiences, settings, and situations—including office-based care (medical, surgical, and dental) and facilities (acute care and ambulatory care). They can customize the training to your care setting.

Assessment and Analysis

The program begins with a survey of your staff to help the trainers understand their perceptions about teamwork, and assess opportunities for improvement. Based on those findings, the trainers will identify team-building strategies, develop an action plan, and train the team.

Personalized Training

The training modules can be customized to your practice environment and focus on four core competency areas:

  • Leadership
  • Situation monitoring
  • Mutual support
  • Communications

In the sessions, your team members will learn how to clarify team roles and responsibilities, resolve conflicts, improve information sharing, and eliminate barriers to quality and safety.
