Features and Benefits
Our Practice Risk INSIGHT can identify potential risks in the most critical aspects of your practice. It has been customized for various specialties to reflect your practice environment.
Your practice will receive a comprehensive checkup and a customized action plan. These recommendations are gleaned from our ongoing analysis of thousands of closed malpractice claims. You’ll learn exactly what changes are needed in your office policies and procedures to enhance patient safety, support quality programs, and minimize liability.
In completing the assessment, you will answer a series of questions about your practice’s policies, procedures, and processes—then indicate whether certain critical actions are documented. Think of it as a history and physical that helps us identify your potential malpractice exposure in nine key areas of practice management:
- Clinical Lab, Diagnostic Test, and Consultation Tracking
- Appointment Management
- Patient Information
- Telephone Communication
- Medications
- Medical Records
- Informed Consent
- Patient/Family to Provider Communication
- Telehealth

Assessment by Our Risk Managers
Our expert risk managers will review your medical records using tracer methodology to identify your potential risks. At the conclusion of the assessment, they will review a customized action plan with you and your key staff. The plan will contain recommendations for specific actions and timing for your team, prioritized by potential benefits to your practice. This assessment can be completed virtually, onsite, or a combination of the two to meet the needs of the practice.
Self-Administered Online Assessment
The self-administered version of the assessment is flexible to accommodate the demands placed on a busy practice. Users can complete the assessment in sections as time permits and save partially completed assessments to work on later. Convenient navigation enables users to go back and move forward, as needed, to amend answers before submitting a completed assessment.
Dynamic, evidence-based advice is displayed on the screen as the assessment progresses and may include links to helpful resources for additional support based on the answers provided. An executive summary report will be electronically delivered after completing the self-assessment. It will contain recommendations for specific actions and timing for your team, prioritized by the corresponding risk levels.
Follow-Up
The actual assessment is just the beginning. We will follow up with you to ensure that the conversation between your staff and ours continues throughout the implementation of your action plan. Our risk managers are here to serve you and provide the support needed to protect you and your patients from harm.
Cost
This is a value-added service offered at no cost to you. It is provided as part of our ongoing commitment to uncovering hidden risks so you can focus on caring for your patients instead of defending your practice.
