Risk Retention Group

The Doctors Company Risk Retention Group (TDCRRG) is a liability insurance company that is owned by its members and affiliated with The Doctors Company. TDCRRG is domiciled in the District of Columbia and registered to do business in all states. TDCRRG has an A.M. Best rating of A (“Excellent”). Because there are more APCs working independently and owning and controlling their own policies, TDCRRG was chosen as the underwriting company in California and New York to make the insurance product available more quickly and with more flexibility for APCs.

A Risk Retention Group is a corporation or other limited liability association formed pursuant to the federal Liability Risk Retention Act whose primary activity consists of assuming and spreading all or any portion of the liability exposure of its group members who are engaged in a related, similar, or common business trade, product, services, premises, or operations. New York Insurance Law Section 5902(n) sets forth the definition of a Risk Retention Group.
